Trilogy Moments for the Mind,Body and Soul and A Trilogy of Poetry, Prose and Thoughts by The Spence Family: Joseph Spence Sr., Sheila Parrish-Spence and Jonathan Spence.
http://www.trilogypoetry.com/index.htmSpecial note: Joseph Spence Sr. is the originator of the epulaeryu form.
Although the Spence family have devoted only one section in this book to "Family, Love and Relationships", every section reflects what family life and love should be all about. With each family member contributing their well-written poetry, readers can see the respect and love that each one holds for the other. As you read this book, you will actually feel the stress and tension melt away as their beautiful words bring a feeling of peaceful enjoyment. This book encompasses a few different forms of poetry including the Epulaeryu, Nonet, Pleiades and Trois-par-Huit among others. If you are not familiar with these forms, no problem! There is a section of definitions provided so that you may get the full benefit of what the poems have to offer. From Joseph's "Autumn Rain" to Sheila's "Jamaica Shining" and with Jonathan's "A Father's Heart" between them, Trilogy Moments for the Mind Body and Soul will lift your spirits like no other!
Tinsie's Story - A Quilt's Reflection by Benny and Patty Morton.
http://www.tinsiesstory.com/
If you do not read Tinsie's Story, you will be missing out on a very special experience. It will linger with you long after you have put this book down. Memory Quilts have been in my family for generations and this book has made me look at them in a whole new light and with a much deeper respect, not just for the amount of work that goes into making one but also for the lives that each patch represents. Tinsie's Story is not just about a quilt, but is also rich in the history of several generations - the times and their lives, loves and losses. The ending could not have been better!
Eternal Garden by Erik Estabrook.
http://erikestabrook.com/Eternal Garden is that kind of book which lingers long after the reader has put it down. It is a slim volume packed with quality insights phrased in ways that will make a reader sit up and take notice. My favorite lines are found in the poem: "Stop the Sunshine" and they are:
"As dark as Satan can make it,
He'll never stop the sunshine
God has placed in my mind".
Erik Estabrook's love for poetry does indeed reflect the sunshine of his mind throughout this book.
No More Lonely Days by Christopher M. Lawson.
Readers of this romantic novel, "No More Lonely Days", will turn the last page with a sigh, a smile, a sense of satisfaction and a lighter heart.
The plot has just enough twists to keep it moving and interesting without making it too complicated to follow and the characters are very real.
From a bag of clothespins and a loaf of bread, Christopher M. Lawson shows how simple things can lead to great and lasting friendships.
A thoroughly enjoyable read!
I Remember Tomorrow by William Butler
In "I Remember Tomorrow", William Butler presents a clear and compelling tale of precognition and it's effects in a realistic setting. The characters that he has created come to life for the reader through their thoughts and natural, unstilted conversations.
This is one of those books that you won't want to put down once you start reading it. The story line and action keep forcing you to turn the page to see what happens next until it all comes to a very satisfying conclusion.
Although this is a work of fiction, it is entirely believable.
Mother's Journals by Zada Connaway
This is a book that will take you through your entire emotional spectrum. It is the story of three generations that progressed from abuse and unwarranted guilt, through anger and hate to understanding and continues on to a conclusion of love, happiness and most importantly, to hope.
The characters in this novel are all fictitious but the feelings and actions of the three main characters, Margery, her daughter Mary and granddaughter Ellen, are so believable that they truly do "come to life" for the reader.
Although Mother's Journals - Parts1, 2 and 3 come to a very satisfying conclusion I hope that Zada Connaway will continue with a Part 4 because now I am wondering how the future of Ellen's daughter, Bethany, turns out.
Discovering the Long Way Home by Julie Larose
Not Just for Kids!
Although this book is geared toward young teens, adult readers will be enchanted with it as well.
The confusion and fears of the main character, 13-year-old Marilyn, are clearly presented and the way that Marilyn deals with them creates an entirely believable story. At times, Marilyn acts much older than her age and at other times, she seems much younger. Exactly as real-life teens do!
In "Discovering the Long Way Home", Julie Larose has created an exceptionally well-written account of how parental emotional abandonment feels from the child's perspective. This issue alone could have made this book depressing for the reader but Julie has filled the pages with hope, caring and understanding. Then, she continues the action to bring the whole issue to a most satisfying resolution.
Young teens will enjoy reading this book for Marilyn encounters many situations that they will be able to relate to but for
parents everywhere, this book is a "must read" for it is truly enlightening!
Daddy's Game by A. W. Nutter
A well-written, graphic journey through the minds of a psychopath and his victim. This book is not for the young, the squeamish or those faint-of-heart. I cannot say that I enjoyed it, the subject itself does not allow for enjoyment, yet I found that I could not put it down once I started reading it. The horror of it held me transfixed. It does however, come to a most satisfying conclusion.
What makes this book most frightening is knowing that there really are people out there who are exactly like Mr. Nutter's characters, John and Michael. What makes this book so satisfying is knowing that there are also people out there who are exactly like the characters, Bob and Helen.
A. W. Nutter is indeed, a spellbinding story teller.
